Who uses an equestrain simulator and why?
The Racewood Equestrian Simulators we not designed to take the place of the real thing, instead, their fundamental purpose was to enhance and compliment equestrian sports. Having first been developed to improve rider fitness and technique in the racing world, the demand extended to the other disciplines. From here, innovative coaches, therapists and sports scientists began to see the potential for wider uses ranging from hippotherapy to medical research.
Here are some examples of how the Racewood Simulators are being used and by whom.
Hippotherapy
Equiforia is a unique facility in France, using hippotherapy as a form of neurological rehabilitation. Whilst their focus is largely on the therapeutic properties of the real horse, they have incorporated the use of a simulator into their tailor-made therapy programmes.
medical research
Orthosport Eschweiler is a department of sports medicine and sports traumatology near Aachen in Germany , home of CHIO Aachen.
One of its core practises is a ground-breaking, dynamic spine measurement of professional and recreational riders, whilst using a Racewood RDA Simulator.
OE is the only place worldwide, taking this detailed measurement. Scientifically speaking, it is an eye opener and a game changer. This level of detail enables them to analyse; spine rotation, pelvic drop, skoliose angle, in walk, trot, canter left and right and flying changes.
After these measurements are collected, the rider is then given specific osteopathic treatment and a tailored training session. This method ensures the health and longevity of both the riders and their horses.
