LYNSEY TYSON - BHSAI
Lynsey has a unique set of skills alongside being BHS qualified and having evented to Intermediate level. She has also successfully competed side saddle, winning at County level as well as having shown everything from Arabs to Heavy Horses under astride saddle.
She is also a qualified hypnotherapist and uses many of these techniques to good effect whilst working with riders with confidence issues and "mental blocks ". She has seen the great potential of using the Racewood simulators in order to safely work through situations which require more time and patience than a real horse might allow.
A big advantage in her being based locally to Racewood HQ and working freelance is that she can also help you to convert the skills you've learnt with the simulator into 'real horse skills ' on your own horse. Plus, she can pop into Racewood for just a couple of hours teaching if needs be, so there's no need to wait, or have to organise a full or half day clinic.
Lynsey is excellent at teaching skills on the simators which transfer easily to your own horse. She understands from first hand experience how effective these simulators are for doing just this, in order to take the horse out of the equation and let riders develop the muscle memory which is necessary to allow riders to help, rather than hinder their own horses.
She also firmly believes that riding should be fun and that a well balanced and relaxed rider allows the horse to go better and enjoy its job too.

SARAH DAVENPORT - EQUIMOTION
With a long list of injuries herself, Sarah took her extensive knowledge of equine anatomy and biomechanics and started to develop an equally extensive knowledge of human anatomy and biomechanics, with a particular focus on their role in riding. Knowing the benefits of Pilates for riders, Sarah trained as a Level 3 Mat Pilates Instructor and is also a qualified Equipilates™ Biomechanics Trainer.
At the same time, Sarah began to investigate the use of "Franklin Balls" in riding. January 2019 saw EquiMotion host the first true equestrian Franklin Ball clinic in the UK. The response to this clinic from riders was significant, the postural improvement in one session, dramatic. In February 2019, Sarah travelled to New York to attend the first Franklin Method Equestrian training with Eric Franklin, keen to learn how and why these little balls made such a big difference. Sarah returned to the UK as the first (at the time, only) Franklin Method Equestrian trainer in the UK. Sarah remains at the forefront of Franklin Method Equestrian training and is currently one of just three Level One Equestrian Educators in the world.
As EquiMotion grew, a common theme began to emerge. Most of the riders Sarah was seeing, had some form of injury, often incurred many years previously, that appeared to be a significant contributory factor to the problems clients were encountering in their riding. Determined to help her clients overcome these injuries, Sarah travelled to Lisbon to qualify as an AiM (Anatomy in Motion) Practitioner. The impact these programmes had on her own injuries was profound, and Sarah is now able to incorporate this work in her work at EquiMotion.
Sarah has also trained with leading performance psychologist Charlie Unwin, and having completed the Centre10 Advanced programme in Applied Psychology for Equestrians, she is ideally placed to help you rebuild your confidence over a fence, following a fall, or help recover from a confidence crisis after injury.
With Sarah's huge range of experience we are very excited to be able to offer her skills here at the Racewood Training Centre on our top of the range Eventing model. Contact Sarah to find out how to book.

STEPH BRADLEY - FREEDOM SADDLERY AND WHITEGATE FARM
Steph is a qualified MSFC and SMS Master Saddle Fitter, and a qualified BHS and BD accredited coach. Having competed dressage up to and including Intermediare I, and still actively competing today. She has also supported and coached her daughter Francesca - who now competes at Grand Prix and has represented GB Young Riders and Seniors. Steph spends her time split saddle fitting and coaching, loving both roles. Both roles are intertwined - saddle imbalance can cause rider imbalance!
Currently studying Level 4 Masters in Coaching at University of Gloucestershire, and also Sport Wales Coach Developer Practitioner Programme - one of only 9 coaches across all sports in Wales to be accepted onto this course. The two courses keep Steph well up to date with different coaching styles and designs to ensure sessions are as effective as possible.
Steph has also undertaken the Tesst Rider Symmetry certified coaches course - which means the findings on the Racewood Simulator can then be corrected under guidance ‘on horse’. The influence and effectiveness of the rider is often overlooked, and Steph firmly believes the mantra “work on the horse and you improve your horse; work on the rider and ALL their horses improve!”

BECKY HOLDEN - RIDING FROM THE GROUND UP
LISCENED TEACH FOR PHILIPPE KARLS SCHOOL OF LEGERETE (LIGHTNESS) AND ALSO A LEVEL 4 ENLIGHTENED EQUITATION INSTRUCTOR
She specialises in the classical seat, education of the riders hands and the refinement of the aids.
Becky is a classical dressage trainer who also specialises in working the horse inhand. She is a freelance teacher and also holds clinics covering North Wales, Cheshire, Greater Manchester and Lancashire. Becky has many years experience who has the skill to explain complex subjects in a way which is easy to understand. She began teaching with simulators 18 years ago whilst working as assistant trainer on Heather Moffett yard in Devon.
Do you struggle with sitting trot? // Do you find rising on the correct diagonal difficult on one rein and always need to change it? // Are you told things like, follow the movement, sit deeper or relax your lower back? These things often don't make any sense to the rider. //Do you find riding with contact hard to master or understand? // Is your horse behind the leg and an effort to ride or to fast and out of balance? // Does your horse fall in or fall out on circles? //Do you get the same comments in every dressage test and would like to know why?
The simple answer to most issues mentioned above is to ride in sync with your horse.
By learning to synchronise our movement with the horse's, we can enhance our balance and stability in the saddle. When our body moves in harmony with the horse's motion, we are more likely to maintain our position and not rely on the hands for balance during various riding maneuvers.
the timing of our aids is also very important for us to make sense to our horse. They are highly perceptive animals, and they can sense even the subtlest movements and shifts in our weight and posture. By moving in sync with the horse and timing our aids correctly we can use our body language to communicate signals and cues more clearly, enhancing our ability to direct the horse's movements and perform desired tasks.
When riders do not synchronize their movements, it can create conflicting signals and interfere with the horse's balance. This can lead to confusion and resistance from the horse. By matching our body movements with the horse's motion, we reduce the chances of conflicting cues and allow the horse to move more freely and comfortably.
It enables us to work together as a unified team. This synchronization promotes fluidity, grace, and precision.
But.....!
A balanced horse and a balanced rider is a little bit like the chicken and the egg scenario!
Which comes first?
Horses have natural asymmetry in their body, they will prefer more weight on one shoulder, lack bend in one direction and push more with one hind leg. None of which causes them any issues before they are ridden.
We too have asymmetry in our bodies but to try and correct these on a moving horse with strong asymmetry too is often very difficult!
When we take the time to address the horses natural asymmetry with detailed exercises which are individually matched to the horses needs they become more balanced and able to carry us better and when we address ours we are able to communicate better and ride as one with our horse. The best place for us to practise is on a simulator where our mistakes don't matter and to receive immediate feed back from the machine is invaluable.
The best plan is to have a detailed training programme for both the horse and the rider. Working solely on one or the other will never produce perfect balance or synchronicity.
A combination will achieve amazing results.

Prior to opening her Clinic, Steph worked in horse racing for well over 10 years working for some of the country's top NH trainers and obtained her level 2 racehorse care and management qualification both ridden and accompanying horses to the races. Following on from a substantial racing fall, she went in search of finding ways we can prevent injury and how recovery plays an important role.
As Steph's interests grew, and her knowledge expanded with her existing qualification, she set out to work hard on obtaining her Sports Science qualification which she passed with a triple distinction (the only pupil at her college to do so).
Steph is now qualified in Sports Coaching, L4 Sports Therapy and Injury Prevention, Mat Pilates and now the Franklin Method. She uses a combination of massage, Pilates, Franklin method & biomechanics to get the very best results for her riders and clients.
Steph also supports her young daughter who is currently riding BD as part of the BYRDS programme and has a strong interest in classical dressage.
With Steph's range of experience we are pleased to be able to offer her skill set here at Racewood on our top of the range eventing simulator.
